Video monitors:

After we're done with discussions on cute baby names and choosing baby shower favors, we need to start to consider safety in newborn care.
Experts tell us that we should never let our young children or toddlers play indoors or at the back yard without adult supervision. No house and no playground is completely child proof and there are many hazards that can endanger our young children as they play by themselves. But while that is undoubtedly true, we have other house chores (and sometimes other children) that need to be tended to. A child's video monitor is extremely helpful in newborn care because it allows us to keep an eye on our child at all times, and still go on with our daily routine.

A cordless video baby monitor also allows us to check in on our children during night time without constantly waking them up or exhausting ourselves, and we gain a priceless peace of mind knowing that our young ones are safe and sound at all times.
They are essential to any family with a young child in the house and make original baby shower favors.

What is the different between breathing monitors and video monitors?

A breathing monitor (also known as an apneoa alarm) is designed to alert (usually by transmitting a sound) in any case an infant stops moving or breathing. In cases of full-term healthy newborns of normal weight there is little evidence to support the need to use one. Until today no research had shown that they lower the risk of cot death and the number of false alarms may cause a concerned parent more anxiety than peace of mind.

A video monitor is a digital camera designed to transmit visual (and usually also audial) information to a receiver also known as "the parents unit". Video monitors do not activate alarms (so they have no false alarms) and they allow parents to be visually aware of their child's well being at all times. One of a video monitor's greater advantages (and what makes it so helpful with newborn care) is that it enables a caregiver to watch over a baby or a young child from a distance even while he is awake and playing.

Baby Monitor or Breathing sensors?!

"I already have a breathing monitor for the baby nursery, why do I need a 2P video baby monitor?"
  • Our products accompnay the movement sensors so you will be able to hear the alarm from anywhere in the house even if the room door is closed or you are away (and for the first time you CAN BE).
  • 2P monitor makes sure that you can hear him/her breathing at all time (even before the sensors start the alarm).
  • Video monitors allow you to see & hear (during sleep or playtime) at all time, not only in case of a serious problem.

    Other Questions:

    Answers

    • I've placed my baby monitor camera outdoors and the image on my screen looks unclear and foggy – what's wrong?
This problem is usually caused by tiny water droplets that condense from the air (mainly at night) onto cool surfaces. When temperature drops, dew accumulates on the face of the camera, (just like a window of a car that's parked outside at winter), and the image turns "foggy". To solve this problem, try to keep the camera under some kind of cover (the awning of your home or a roof rack).

    • I purchased a BM-2000 set that came with one camera. Can I connect additional cameras to my existing set?
You can connect up to four cameras to one receiver. However, we recommend that users only connect up to three cameras to one receiver due to the increased possibility of interference. The receiver has buttons that allow you to view all 3 (or 4) cameras individually. The number on the camera is also the channel number.

    • I am having interferences in my audial/ visual reception in my BM-2000. How can I solve this?
There are several things you can try:
      a) If you have in your home a wireless internet route or a 2.4GHz cordless phone, it is possible that these devices are causing the interferences. You can solve the problem by changing the channels of those devices:
A wireless router – you can change the channel from the router's setup.
A cordless phone - if you cannot change channels then try to turn off the power from the phone base, and then turn on the camera and receiver. Then turn on the base phone again. Some phones automatically switch to a different channel if there is conflict with another device.
      b) In the rare event of a serious interferences, try the following: Place the camera where there is the fewest number of obstacles between the camera and receiver. Obstacles include walls, ceramic tiles, a microwave, concrete or even stacks of books, as well as Blue tooth-enabled devices, such as laptops.
      c) Change the locations of the camera and receiver. Finding the best location and position requires a bit of trial-and-error. Moving the camera and/or receiver in any direction even by a few inches could significantly improve the reception. Changing the antenna angle and moving the camera around might also help.
A small tip: Placing the receiver higher than the camera might do the trick.

    • I am looking for baby shower favors, does 2P cordless video baby monitor qualify as such?
There is no better gift you can give to new parents. 2P Monitors will buy them a priceless peace of mind knowing that they can always watch their child – in all hours of the day and night (and even listen to him breath!) It is a much more useful and helpful gift than baby clothing (that the child will grow out of in a month's time) or than a cute baby names book.

    • I connected my BM-2000 camera to a TV, but I'm getting blue/ black screen or "snow" effect?
      • Usually a blue/black screen means you didn't select the correct TV mode. Use the TV/Video (AV) button on your TV remote control to select the correct mode on your TV.
      • A snowing effect means the receiver doesn't get a signal from the camera. There are a few things you can check:
Make sure that you're using a 12-Volt adaptor for the receiver and that you are using an 8-Volt adaptor for the camera (try it without using a battery). Check which channel number is printed on the camera (it should be 1, 2 or 3). Then select the same exact channel number on your receiver. Use the A/V cable (yellow for video, red for audio) to connect your camera to your TV, and then use your TV remote's TV/ Video button to select video1 or video2 (depending on your TV set).

    • Why am I getting a white screen on my BM-2000?
Baby monitors show a white screen when a strong light (sunlight or other light source) shines directly into the lens and sensor, and overpowers the video signal and Electronic Iris. This does not harm the camera and the picture will return to normal if the light source changes position. Remember: Do NOT point your camera directly into any light source.

    • I already have a breathing monitor. Why do I need a 2P cordless video baby monitor?
After choosing cute baby names we need to consider safety measures in newborn care. Breathing monitors are problematic because they only inform you when something is already extremely wrong and their tendency to have false alarms causes more stress than peace of mind. Also, they only inform you of breathing infrequencies, not of other problems.
2P monitor makes sure that you can watch your child at all times (and not wait for the machine to raise the alarm). Video monitors allow you to see and hear (during sleep or playtime) if your child is crying, if he got tangled in between the bed bars or even just listen to his breathing and know that he is well.

    • How do I connect my BM-2000 camera to a VCR?
Before connecting your camera to a VCR we recommend that you first connect it to a TV in order to make sure that the camera is working. You need a VCR or DVR (Digital Video Recorder) to record the images you see on your TV. After you've done that, take the following steps:
      • Connect the A/V cable from the receiver to A/V input on your VCR.
      • Connect from A/V output on your VCR to your TV's A/V input.
      • Refer to your VCR user's manual to make a recording. In most cases, you will need to select line 1 or line 2 on your VCR to make a recording. Try changing to channel 2 in your VCR, and then pushing channel "-" in the remote that will get line 1. When you can see the image on your TV, then you can push the record button to record.

    • Can I hook up the baby monitors cameras to my computer?
The BM-2000 can be connected to a computer if the computer is equipped with a Frame Grabber Board or TV/Video Board with A/V input, or a Video Card or TV Card with RCA connectors. If your computer have none of the above, it is still possible that you could connect the camera to it, but you will need to consult with your computer specialist.

    • What is the maximum distance I can have between the camera and the receiver?
For BM-1000 the maximum distance you can have between the camera and receiver is 30 feet/ 10 meters for visual data and up to 100 feet/ 33 meters for sound data. For BM-2000 the maximum distance you can have between the camera and receiver is 300 feet.

    • Why does a cordless video baby monitor (which is wireless) need an external power source?
ALL wireless cameras need some type of power source. Cordless or wireless means that no wires are needed to connect the camera to the receiver. BM-2000 has a built-in rechargeable battery, but it only runs for 5-6 hours on battery power. It is simple to connect an extension cord from any outdoor outlet to supply power to the camera. If there is no outlet nearby, you can buy a screw-in outlet from your local hardware store for your porch or patio light. The charger can then be plugged into the extension cord. Just make sure you use electrical tape (available in most hardware stores) to keep water from getting into the connection. Only the receiver needs to be kept indoors.

    • What are LEDS?
LEDS are Light Emitting Diodes. LEDS provide Night Vision for 2P Baby Monitors. As so, they assist parents with newborn care, allowing them to watch their baby from afar even when he is sleeping in a dark room (which is another reason for why they make such baby shower favors).

    • When you say the camera has a certain range in 'open space' what does 'open space' mean?
The term 'open space' means that there are no obstacles, which may interfere with the transmission of the audio/video signal. Obstructions include items such as walls, buildings and certain electronic devices.

    • I set the switch to VOX (voice activation) on my BM-1000 and no audio or video signal is transmitted. What's wrong?
The microphone (MIC) sensitivity might be too low. Adjust the microphone to a higher sensitivity by using the volume knob.

    • There are static noises on my BM-1000 receiver. What can be wrong?
Electrical appliances of different kinds can cause interferences that will lead to static noises in a cordless video baby monitor. Change the location of either the camera or any electrical appliances that are in close proximity. You could also switch to another channel.

    • What is a video monitor good for?
Cordless (or wireless) baby monitors are an essential part of newborn care. After the cute baby names have been sorted out, we need to consider how we can best protect our infant child. 2P monitors can be used to watch our children during daytime while working around the house or garden. They allow us to watch the young ones when they are in their crib, or - with older toddlers - when they are playing.
At night time a video monitor that offer infrared (which all 2P monitors have) can be used to check that everything is alright with our sleeping baby without waking him up or exhausting ourselves.
    • Sometimes the "out of range" alarm on my BM-1000 is on for no apparent reason. What is wrong?
This is common in cases of interference from another device in the house. Switching to another channel will probably solve the problem.

    • How do video baby monitors help young parents in the early stages of newborn care?
After discussing cute baby names and unwrapping baby shower favors many young parents are left with the difficult task of balancing their concern for their child and their need to rest or do house chores. Video baby monitors help parents to do just that, because they are always able to watch their child while not being restrained to the baby's room.

    • I set the switch to VOX (voice activation) on my BM-1000 and the audio/ video signal is constantly transmitted, what's wrong?
The microphone (MIC) sensitivity might be too high. Adjust the microphone to a higher sensitivity by using the volume knob.

    • I can hear the audio signal on my BM-1000 but there is no picture on my screen. What can be wrong?
      There are two possible causes:
      1. You might be exceeding the operating range of the video signal (which is shorter than that of audio Signal). Move the parent unit closer to camera unit.
      2. Check the "VOX for screen" switch (14 on the diagram) - it could be set "OFF". Set it "ON".

    • Even when my BM-1000 units (camera and receiver) are not far from each other the "out of range" alarm is always on. What can I do?
      There are three possible explanations:
      1. The channels or the digital code settings might be different in the camera and parent unit. Make sure the code and channels in both units are the same.
      2. The batteries in the camera unit have run out – use the AC adapter or simply replace the old battery with a new one.
      3. The parents unit and the camera are too far apart – move them closer together.

    • What is the 2P monitor's transmission range through walls?
As with all wireless products, the range of the camera system is reduced when transmitting through walls, and it will also be affected by wireless devices and large objects. A little trial and error will assist you in finding the camera's maximum range in your house.

After choosing cute baby names you need to start thinking about child safety. 2P Monitors allow you to watch over your child day and night while continuing your daily routine. They enable parents to rest or take care of the house (or of older children) while always being able to see and hear their newborn child. They make great baby shower favors and they are essential child safety products for any family with a young child in the house.
